Answers

  1. Q: How long will Superfeet insoles last with everyday wear?

A:For 80% of consumers, the insoles will last approximately 12 months depending on body weight, type of shoe and the environment they are used in (i.e. walking, running, work and sports). Because everyone is different, we can not indicate how many miles it will take to wear a pair out. We recommend replacing oyur insoles every 12 months or when you purchase new shoes.

  2. Q: How do I clean the Superfeet insoles?

A: We suggest an old tooth brush, mild soap and warm water. Let the insoles air dry.

  3. Q: Can Superfeet Insoles be transferred from shoe to shoe?

A: Yes. Be sure to take the Superfeet Insoles with you when you buy new shoes so you don't buy a shoe that is the wrong size and volume. Remember to remove any factory sock liners, if needed.

  4. Q: Can the Superfeet Insoles be used with heel lifts or full length lifts?

A: Yes. First make sure there will be enough room in the shoe to accept both the heel lift and the insole. Tape or glue the heel lift to the bottom of the insole.

  5. Q: Do Superfeet Insoles help heel spurs?

A: Yes, in most, but not all cases. The insoles will help stabilize and reposition the heel bone. At the same time the deep heel cup will hold more of the fat pad under the heel bone for improved cushion and comfort.

  6. Q: Do Superfeet Insoles help Plantar Fasciitis?

A: Yes, in most, but not all cases. The Superfeet Insoles will help hold the rearfoot close to a neutral position. The neutral position will allow for better bone and muscle alignment. This will help reduce some of the stress on the plantar fascia ligament.

  7. Q: Do Superfeet Insoles help to reduce foot elongation? (the foot lengthens when weighted)

A: Yes, Superfeet Premium Insoles can help to reduce foot elongation up to 80% on average and up to 90% in some cases.

  8. Q: What can I do if the Superfeet Insoles increase my foot and shoe odour?

A: Clean the Superfeet Insoles on a regular basis (twice a week).

Remove the Superfeet Insoles from your shoes every night to let the shoes and Superfeet Insoles air out.

Do not wear the same pair of shoes three days in a row.

Try different brands of socks or nylons.

Apply a teaspoon of baby powder under and on top of the footbed in the shoe.

Apply some scented hand or body lotion to your feet.

Try soaking your feet in warm water and Epsom salts for about 20 minutes, once or twice a week.

  9. Q: What should I do if the footbed makes a squeaking sound?

A: If the Superfeet Insoles are new, give them two weeks to mold to your feet and the sound should dissipate. If the squeak is still there, then apply some baby powder inside the shoes under the Superfeet Insoles. Apply some baby powder to the bottom of the plastic cap. Check to make sure that the Superfeet Insole is not trimmed too long for the shoe and is jammed into the shoe. The Superfeet Insole needs to work independantly from the shoe.

Men's ¾ : Easy Fit and Comfort

Questions

  1. They slide down in my shoes; can I do something to hold them in place?
  2. Why isn't there a top cover on the Dressfit?

Answers

  1. Q: They slide down in my shoes; can I do something to hold them in place?

A: You can use Velcro dots under the heel on the bottom of the product. Place the hook portion of the dot in the shoe and the loop portion of the dot on the bottom of the 3/4 Easy Fit device. If you purchase a number of Velcro dots, you can set up all of your footwear to accomodate the same pair of Superfeet. However you may find it easier and more economical to buy multiple pairs of Superfeet for your different shoes.

You can also use double-sided tape in the heel portion of the product on the bottom. If you choose to use the double-sided tape, Superfeet recommends you buy more than one pair of 3/4 Easy Fit, the double-sided tape will generally last for one application.

  2. Q: Why isn't there a top cover on the Dressfit?

A: The Men's 3/4 Easy Fit dress product is produced from a liquid plastic that's injected into a mold. Therefore, a top cover material such as leather, would have to be hand laminated on top of the product after it came out of the mold. Applying the top cover material is labor intensive and would be cost prohibitive to the product.

Wintergreen : Maximum shock absorption in cold weather

Questions

  1. Why are the Wintergreen insoles cut wider than the rest?

Answers

  1. Q: Why are the Wintergreen insoles cut wider than the rest?

A: The Wintergreen product is primarily designated as a winter product based on the outlast component. We have designed it with a wide forefoot to fit the wide foot shape of most snowboard boots.

Green : Maximum shock absorption

Questions

  1. Do Superfeet Insoles help Plantar Fasciitis?
  2. What can I do if the Superfeet Insoles increase my foot and shoe odour?
  3. Can I wear the Green insoles in my shoes where the manufacturer's inlay does not come out?
  4. My Green insoles are squeaking, what can I do to eliminate this squeak?
  5. Why does the arch hit so far back?

Answers

  3. Q: Can I wear the Green insoles in my shoes where the manufacturer's inlay does not come out?

A: We do not recommend that you place a Superfeet on top of the manufacturer's sock liner (insole). However there are shoes where the factory insole may not be removable. You may place the Superfeet in these shoes as long as it doesn't make the fit of the shoe too tight against your foot. The best Superfeet insole option for shoes without removable insoles is the 3/4 Easy Fit model.

  4. Q: My Green insoles are squeaking, what can I do to eliminate this squeak?

A: If the Superfeet insoles are new and make a squeaking sound, there could be a number of causes.

Give the product two weeks to mold to your feet and settle into the shoe. The sound generally dissipates. If after this time the squeak is still there, apply some baby powder inside the shoes under the insoles and apply some baby powder on the bottom of the plastic Superfeet cap. You can also try the insoles in different shoes to see if this squeak goes away. Check to make sure that the product is not trimmed too long for the shoe's internal length. Jamming the insole in the shoe can create problems with fit and function.

  5. Q: Why does the arch hit so far back?

A: When you first try on the Superfeet product you may feel like the arch is too far back. This is not uncommon and it can be a positive feedback from the product. All Superfeet products are primarily designed for feet that over-pronate. If you feel like the arch is too far back, the product is actually telling you that it's trying to support you rear foot (heel bone) so the foot doesn't have the ability to collapse. As you go through the break-in period with the product, it may take 10 minutes to 2 weeks for the feeling of the high spot support to dissipate. If the feeling does not dissipate and become more comfortable, contact the Superfeet dealer where you purchased the product or call customer care to help you determine if you have purchased the correct size for your foot and the correct model for the shoe style and your foot type. If you trim the Superfeet insole too long for the shoe, it will jam the Superfeet in the shoe and give you the feeling that the arch is too far back. You may want to trim the front end of the Superfeet insole so that the product can move in the shoe from front to back, about the thickness of a nickel. This allows the product to be independant of the shoe. The Superfeet product will center itself underneath the foot, increasing comfort and function.

Blue : Our most versatile

Questions

  1. Does the Green have a lower arch than the Blue?
  2. What is the difference between the Blue and the Green?
  3. Why can't I use Blue with Gore-Tex / How can I wear Blue in my Gore-Tex boots?
  4. What can I do if the Superfeet Insoles increase my foot and shoe odour?

Answers

  1. Q: Does the Green have a lower arch than the Blue?

A: The Green does not have a lower arch than the Blue. The arch on the Superfeet Green is higher becuase it's made from a thicker foam sheet.

  2. Q: What is the difference between the Blue and the Green?

A: All of the Superfeet products are based on proven biomechanical principles to help create ideal foot function. The differences between the Superfeet models are not in the biomechanical shape. They are in the thickness of the materials used in each of the products. The foam top sheet of the Blue product before it is molded into shape is 1/4" thick. The Green foam thickness is 3/8" thick. This makes the Green product 1/8 inch thicker than the Blue.

Because the Blue product is produced from a thinner sheet of foam, there is less foam volume in the arch area on the product. As a result of this some flat feet may feel the Blue product is more comfortable than the Green.

The Green product is thicker in volume, therefore it will fit into shoes that offer more room. The Blue product is thinner in volume, therefore it will fit into shoes with less room.

  3. Q: Why can't I use Blue with Gore-Tex / How can I wear Blue in my Gore-Tex boots?

A: The support ridges in the bottom of the Blue cap can grind into the Gore-Tex boot lining. It is recommended that Superfeet be trimmed so they move 2mm inside the shoe, and this friction eventually makes the ridges slice through the lining. It doesn't happen every time, but it happens often enough for us to make a note in our literature. There is a shoe accessory called a 5-iron that corrects this problem. A 5-iron is a 1/8 inch thick insole-shaped flat sheet of foam/rubber. It comes in two sizes: small and large. Superfeet size B-D are small and E-G are large. We do not make the material that 5-irons are made of, but we do cut them from a flat sheet of material. The material comes from a company in Salem, MA and is an EVA Foam and SBR Rubber blend. You should place it between the bottom of the insole and the shoe, and it will keep the ridges from making direct contact with the Gore-Tex.

Another option to consider is going with a product from our custom line. They are a bit more expensive, but the underside is made of Gore-Tex friendly Kork, and they are a superior product. To have a pair of custom insoles fabricated for you, you need to go to a store that has a Custom Fit Centre. The insoles are heated in an oven to make them malleable and placed against your feet in a neutral, non-weight bearing position. The result is a true custom orthotic with a shape that intimately conforms to your foot.

It is not as common, however any orthotic or Superfeet Premium Insole can have contact with the Gore-Tex lining and create a pressure point on the side or the bottom of the boot which could possibly wear a hole. If you choose to use Superfeet with the Gore-Tex lined boot, inspect your boots often making sure that there is no sand or grit between the orthotic and the bottom of the boot.

Black : Flat and sensitive feet

Questions

  1. Can I use the Black Superfeet in a Gore-Tex lined boot?
  2. Can I use the Black insoles in ice-skates?
  3. What is the difference between the Black, the Blue, and the Green?
  4. Why is the Black recommended for Golf shoes?
  5. What can I do if the Superfeet Insoles increase my foot and shoe odour?

Answers

  1. Q: Can I use the Black Superfeet in a Gore-Tex lined boot?

A: We do not recommend using Superfeet Premium Black insoles in Gore-Tex lined boots. The ridges in the heel area on the bottom of the Black plastic cap will cut through the Gore-Tex lining.

  2. Q: Can I use the Black insoles in ice-skates?

A: The Black insole can fit into some ice-skates. One of the problems that may take place is that the insole may be too wide to fit down into the skate. The Superfeet Black insole was not designed for ice skates applications. The Superfet Grey Premium Insole was specifically designed for application in hockey and figure skates.

  3. Q: What is the difference between the Black, the Blue, and the Green?

A: The difference between the Black, the Blue, and the Green is based on the style of shoe that you put the product into. The Black is for dress shoes that have low volume and are tight fitting. The Blue is for casual shoes and the Green is for any shoe that has a full-length removable insole and has room for the product and the foot. You may also use the Black or Blue in an tighter fitting athletic footwear.

  4. Q: Why is the Black recommended for Golf shoes?

A: Superfeet Premium Black Insoles are ideal for dress style golf shoes because of the design taper in the arch of the plastic cap on the bottom of the insole. The design of the black plastic cap takes up a little less room in the Golf shoe than the Superfeet Blue and the Superfeet Green. If you wear an athletic style golf shoe that has a removeable full-length factory insole, you may use the Green, Blue, or the Black.

Grey : Skates and Cycling

Questions

  1. What is the difference between the Grey and the Black?
  2. Which insoles work best for Cycling shoes?
  3. Why are the Grey insoles recommended for skates and cycle shoes?
  4. Why are the Grey insoles so much narrower than the Black, Blue, and Green?

Answers

  1. Q: What is the difference between the Grey and the Black?

A: The Superfeet Grey insole is designed to sit approximately an inch and a half off the ground at the heel. The heel elevation is the same profile that hockey skates and figure skates follow. The Superfeet Black insole is designed to sit flat with no heel elevation.

  2. Q: Which insoles work best for Cycling shoes?

A: Which insole is best depends upon the type of cycling shoe it is going into. Commuter shoes and Mountain Biking shoes are usually pretty tight fitting, so the Blue or Black is a popular choice. We also offer the Grey for road biking shoes ( with an elevated heel ) which has a special feature designed into it. It has a "ramp" that slopes down from the heel to the forefoot and is designed for those kinds of shoes (you can usually tell by resting your hand on the inside to feel if the shoe has an inner slope).

  3. Q: Why are the Grey insoles recommended for skates and cycle shoes?

A: The cycling shoe profile has a raised heel and ramp angle down to the toe. This is true in road cycling shoes as well as ice skates.

  4. Q: Why are the Grey insoles so much narrower than the Black, Blue, and Green?

A: The Grey insoles are designed to fit the inside volume and profile of hockey and figure skates. Skates are very narrow in the heel and mid-foot section, therefore that plastic cap of the Grey product is designed to fit into it.

Kork : personalised Fit

Questions

  1. How long does it take to get Custom Kork insoles made?
  2. What is the difference between the Kork and the Kork-Vac?
  3. Why does it cost so much?
  4. Why is Custom Kork better than the Superfeet Winter?

Answers

  1. Q: How long does it take to get Custom Kork insoles made?

A: Depending on the foot and the boot model, on average about an hour.

  2. Q: What is the difference between the Kork and the Kork-Vac?

A: Superfeet Kork is a little thicker in volume and will take up more room in the boot. The Kork full-length top sheet is molded from a 3/16" thick sheet of Kork. This makes the product a little denser and offers a little more support. The Kork-Vac full-length top sheet is molded from 3/16" foam. Because we've chosen to use foam full-length it takes up less room in the boot and offers a softer ride.

  3. Q: Why does it cost so much?

A: Custom orthotics made by doctors can cost anywhere from $400 to $500, while Superfeet custom insoles may start around $60 and go up to around $200 depending on the model. The custom Kork is specifically designed for skiing and snowboarding and takes about one hour to make. The Kork product in a ski boot and snowboard boot can last from 5 to 7 years. Taking into consideration the time to make it and the longevity of the product, the Custom Kork is reasonably priced.

Generally it is a good idea to replace the Kork every 5 years because the equipment and the foot may have changed due to weight gain or weight loss, fatigue, stress, or injury.

  4. Q: Why is Custom Kork better than the Superfeet Winter?

A: Custom Kork is a two component product, therefore it offers an increased level of customization and shape to the foot. The Superfeet Winter custom insole is a one component product. It does not offer the same level of customization, however, the Superfit Winter product may be all the support a particular customer needs.

Kork Vac : personalised Fit

Questions

  1. Can I wear this in my athletic shoe?
  2. How long does it take to get these made?
  3. What is the difference between the Kork-Vac and the Kork?

Answers

  1. Q: Can I wear this in my athletic shoe?

A: In some situations the Custom Kork Vac may be used in an athletic shoe. It really depends on the foot and the shoe volume. However, to do this it will require some additional grinding and fitting to properly work. It would be wise to ask the technician if they have experience with this type of application.

  2. Q: How long does it take to get these made?

A: It takes approximately 1 hour.

  3. Q: What is the difference between the Kork-Vac and the Kork?

A: The Kork-Vac full-length top sheet is molded from 3/16" foam. Because we've chosen to use the foam full-length it takes up less room in the boot and offers a softer ride. Superfeet Kork is a little thicker in volume and will take up more room in the boot. The Kork full-length top sheet is molded from a 3/16" thick sheet of Kork. This makes the product a little denser and offers a little more support.

Superfit Winter

Questions

  1. Do Superfeet Insoles help heel spurs?
  2. Do Superfeet Insoles help Plantar Fasciitis?
  3. How do I clean the Superfeet insoles?
  4. How long will Superfeet insoles last with everyday wear?

Answers

  1. Q: Do Superfeet Insoles help heel spurs?

A: Yes, in most, but not all cases. The insoles will help stabilize and reposition the heel bone. At the same time the deep heel cup will hold more of the fat pad under the heel bone for improved cushion and comfort.

  3. Q: How do I clean the Superfeet insoles?

A: We suggest an old tooth brush, mild soap and warm water. Let the insoles air dry.

  4. Q: How long will Superfeet insoles last with everyday wear?

A: For 80% of consumers, the insoles will last approximately 12 months depending on body weight, type of shoe and the environment they are used in (i.e. walking, running, work and sports). Because everyone is different, we can not indicate how many miles it will take to wear a pair out. We recommend replacing oyur insoles every 12 months or when you purchase new shoes.

Questions

  1. Can I use these in my ice skates?
  2. Do you recommend these for running shoes?
  3. Why are these better for golf than the Custom Green?

Answers

  1. Q: Can I use these in my ice skates?

A: Yes, there are situations where you may use the Custom Black in skates, however they are not the first choice of application. Often times the Custom Black is too wide in the mid-foot area to fit properly into the skate. The Custom Grey or Trim To Fit Grey will accomodate the skate much better.

  2. Q: Do you recommend these for running shoes?

A: There are customers that like running in the Custom Black even though this product was designed for low-volume tight fitting shoes. We have customers that prefer to run wearing Green, Blue, and Black. It's actually quite simple: Go with the product that feels the best under your foot and fits properly in the footwear.

  3. Q: Why are these better for golf than the Custom Green?

A: You can use either the Custom Black or the Custom Green for golf shoes based on the style, the type, and the volume inside the shoe. We recommend the Custom Black for tight fitting golf shoes that do not have removeable insoles. The Green is recommended to be used with shoes that have removeable full-length insoles.

  2. Why are the Grey insoles recommended for skates and cycle shoes?
  3. Why are the Grey insoles so much narrower than the Black, Blue, and Green?

Answers

  1. Q: How do I clean the Superfeet insoles?

A: We suggest an old tooth brush, mild soap and warm water. Let the insoles air dry.

  2. Q: Why are the Grey insoles recommended for skates and cycle shoes?

A: The cycling shoe profile has a raised heel and ramp angle down to the toe. This is true in road cycling shoes as well as ice skates.
